Tata Aeris review 2026 – the new Tata compact sedan

Welcome to our detailed Tata Aeris review. Tata launched the Aeris on 25 September 2026 as the stylish replacement for the Tigor. Prices start at just ₹5.29 lakh, yet the top variant offers ventilated seats, a 360° camera and a built-in dashcam. So, is it the best-value compact sedan in India right now? Let’s find out.

Price: ₹5.29 – ₹8.75 lakh* (petrol, ex-showroom) · Engines: 1.2L petrol / iCNG · Gearbox: 5-speed MT / AMT

Overall, the Aeris is the most feature-rich compact sedan you can buy under ₹9 lakh. However, its 86 PS three-cylinder engine is built for calm city driving rather than thrills.

  • Above all, small families upgrading from a hatchback
  • City commuters who also want CNG savings
  • Buyers who want premium features on a budget
  • Six airbags on every variant, so safety starts from the base model
  • Segment-best 419 L boot, which beats most rivals
  • Ventilated seats, a dashcam and a 360° camera at this price
  • Twin-cylinder iCNG keeps the boot usable, too
  • The 86 PS engine feels modest on highways, especially when loaded
  • Rear drum brakes, even on the top variant
  • ESP only from Pure+, so skip the base variants if you drive on highways
  • Not yet crash-tested by Bharat NCAP

Our pick: the Pure+ is the value sweet spot, because it adds ESP, a touchscreen and a reverse camera. Meanwhile, the Creative is the best all-rounder if you want the 360° camera and LED lights.

Tata Aeris Design: Exterior

First impressions matter, and in our Tata Aeris review the design stood out straight away. It has sharp LED headlamps, an Infinity LED light bar across the boot and 15-inch Diamond Aero alloy wheels. As a result, it looks far more premium than the Tigor it replaces.

Interior and Comfort

Inside, the Aeris honestly feels a class above its price. The OpenView dashboard is wide and airy. Better still, the top variant gets AeroLux ventilated leatherette seats, which are a blessing in Indian summers.

Tata Aeris Safety Features

Safety is a Tata strength, and so the Aeris continues that tradition. Every variant gets six airbags, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX mounts. Moreover, the top variants add a 360° camera and a factory-fitted dashcam. However, the Aeris has not yet been tested by Bharat NCAP, so we’ll update this review once results arrive.

Engine, Performance and Mileage

For this Tata Aeris review, we looked closely at the proven 1.2-litre, three-cylinder Revotron engine. It’s smooth and easy in traffic, so it suits city drivers well. That said, it isn’t fast, and you’ll feel it when overtaking on highways with a full load.

1.2L Revotron engine
It makes 86 PS and 113 Nm, so it suits city driving.
Paddle shifters (AMT)
Use them whenever you want more control, for example on hills.

Aeris iCNG: Twin-Cylinder Savings

The iCNG version uses two cylinders under the boot floor, so you still get a usable boot. In addition, it starts directly in CNG mode and has leak detection, thermal protection and a fire extinguisher under the co-driver seat. Therefore, it’s a smart choice if you drive a lot in the city.

Tata Aeris Colours

The Aeris comes in six colours: Dandeli Drizzle, Dune Glow, Nitro Crimson, Daytona Grey, Pure Grey and Pristine White. Also, the Accomplished gets a dual-tone black roof.
